April 7, 2017 Ag Forecast Update

Eric Snodgrass
Senior Atmospheric Scientist

The last two weeks of very active weather across most of the US has improved the US drought situation. More than 2 inches of rain fell across most of the Central Plains before the Tuesday update of the US Drought Monitor, and the results show a 1-Class Improvement in the drought category.

Expect continued improvement in Illinois and Missouri in next week’s update, as very heavy rains blanketed these states on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The bigger issue now is finding a planting window!
