Today’s Agrible All-Star is Alessandro Gondolo. Alessandro is an intern for Agrible’s Science Team and works on building the models that drive our Morning Farm Report tools. Agrible uses many types of models, algorithms, and data science to drive our predictive analytics. Along with many agriculture-related disciplines, we integrate new and different disciplines from math to physics to graphic design to build products.
Alessandro was born in Los Angeles and by the time he was 2 months old he moved to Europe. Because his father is a physics professor and moved from job to job, Alessandro lived in Germany, Sweden, France, UK, Ohio, and Utah while he was growing up. He got his honors bachelor’s degree in math at the University of Utah before coming to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013 to pursue his math PhD.
Alessandro’s favorite part about working at Agrible is the small company culture where he feels like he gets to work on many types of projects. He also likes that he is getting experience using his math background outside of academia.
Alessandro identifies as a 3rd culture person. He feels he has his own culture because it is a mix of all the countries he grew up in. He enjoys playing video games in his time outside of work. English is Alessandro’s fifth language after Italian, German, French, and Swedish.
